Hello everyone and welcome back to the Cognixia podcast. Every week, we dig up a new topic from emerging digital technologies and share insights, ideas, information, stories, and more. We strive to inspire our listeners to learn new things and update their repertoire of skills to stay relevant and continue growing in their careers.
Two years ago, ChatGPT blew up the internet! Ever since November 30th, 2022, everyone has been talking about AI. It has become a huge deal for both regular folks and tech nerds. And now, with ChatGPT getting bigger and smarter, the world is starting to think about how to regulate this powerful tech.
But what has been going on with OpenAI lately? Well, they have been busy bees!
They have rolled out some pretty cool stuff, like ChatGPT search and Canvas, which lets you use AI for coding. Additionally, they have upgraded their models with GPT-4 and OpenAI o1. They have even partnered with Apple to bring some AI magic to iPhones. And take this, ChatGPT can now even remember your past conversations! It is like having your own personal AI assistant. It goes without saying but we are still going to say it, OpenAI is pushing AI’s boundaries, and it is exciting to see where they will take us next.
ChatGPT has now gotten even smarter! It is not just about writing essays anymore. People are using it to brainstorm software designs and figure out the best way to build things. It is like having a super-smart assistant who knows everything about tech.
And it is no longer just about ChatGPT. OpenAI has got some other cool stuff too, like GPT-4o and OpenAI o1. These models are even more powerful and people are finding new ways to use them every day.
Generative AI assistants have totally changed the game for programmers, no doubt about that. Now, even if you’re not a coding whiz, you can still build cool stuff. These AI tools help everyone, from beginners to experts, to create real-world solutions. It’s like having a super smart coding buddy!
However, while AI is super smart, it is still not perfect. But then, who is? Sometimes, ChatGPT can make mistakes, especially when it comes to coding. You might have to give it a few tries to get it right. It is like training a puppy – sometimes it takes a few tries to get the right answer.
But don’t let that discourage you! AI is still a powerful tool that can save you a lot of time and effort. Just remember to double-check its work and use it as a starting point, not a final answer. There is also still some uncertainty around it. Companies like GitHub have faced legal trouble over AI-generated code. This means we need to be careful about how we use AI, especially when it comes to our own work.
It is somewhat like walking a tightrope. We want to use AI to make our lives easier, but we also need to be aware of the risks. For now, it’s best to use AI as a tool to help us, not as a replacement for our own creativity and hard work.
The past year has been a wild ride for developers, thanks to the rise of AI tools like ChatGPT. Now, even junior developers can tackle complex tasks that once seemed out of reach. With AI as a coding assistant, they can quickly generate code, debug issues, and learn new programming languages.
However, this rapid advancement also raises concerns about the future of coding. There are concerns that AI could automate many routine tasks, potentially reducing the demand for entry-level developers. On the other hand, AI can also free up developers’ bandwidth to focus on more creative and strategic work that requires human intervention and skill, such as designing innovative solutions and solving complex problems that machines effectively can’t. ChatGPT’s not just a cool new toy, it is actually changing how we work. It is kind of like learning to use Google Search. At first, it was a new skill, but now it is just part of how we do things. ChatGPT is becoming a daily tool for many of us, boosting our productivity. But it’s important to remember that it is a tool, not a magic wand. We still need to think critically and use our own judgment.
OpenAI has also been trying to make ChatGPT a go-to for everything, especially with developments like ChatGPT search and Canvas. While ChatGPT search didn’t quite beat Google, Canvas is pretty cool. Canvas can remember what you have done before, making it easier to work on complex projects. Now isn’t it something like having a super-powered text editor on steroids? With these developments, you can focus on the big picture and let AI handle the details.
Well, one thing is for certain, 2024 was a big year for AI, but it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. We realized that AI, while powerful, still has its limits. It’s great for many things, but it’s not a magic solution for everything.
However, AI companies are constantly working to improve these models. They’re feeding them more and more data, making them smarter and more capable. This means that the way we interact with AI, especially tools like ChatGPT, is constantly evolving.
Just think about how we used to code with punch cards! Technology is always changing, and we need to adapt to stay relevant. AI is just the latest tool in our toolbox, and it has the potential to revolutionize the way we work. While there are challenges and limitations in the space, the future of AI sure looks bright.
With that, we come to the end of this week’s episode of the Cognixia podcast. Thank you for listening to us today. We will be back again next week with another interesting and exciting new episode.
Until then, happy learning!
